Navratri is a Hindu festival that spans nine nights and is dedicated to the worship of the goddess Durga. The word “Navratri” is derived from two Sanskrit words: “Nav” meaning nine and “Ratri” meaning night. This festival typically falls in the Hindu calendar month of Ashwin, which corresponds to September or October in the Gregorian calendar. Navratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion in various parts of India and among Hindu communities worldwide.

The festival is primarily dedicated to the goddess Durga, who is regarded as a symbol of female power and divine energy. During these nine days, different forms or manifestations of Durga are worshipped. The festival concludes with Vijayadashami, the tenth day, which marks the victory of good over evil when the goddess Durga is believed to have defeated the demon Mahishasura.
